The Prince Albert Cosmopolitan Club has been serving the Community of Prince Albert and area for over 80 years. It has been my privilege to serve as President in 2011-12 and now again in 2021-22.
Over the years our Club has donated time energy and money to support our local hospital, various groups from Army and Navy Cadets to the Prince Albert Girls’ choir. We have rolled up our sleeves to paint new walls at Children’s Haven and installed a disc golf course in Maier Park. We have laid grass at Abbeyfield House, build new shower and bathrooms at Camp Tamarack and helped build houses for Habitat for Humanity. We have been proud to support Mont St. Joseph care home because of the great benefits it provides in our community. Many projects are brought to our Club’s attention by members who have a personal attachment to a project.
While doing all of this, we have not strayed from the Cosmopolitan creed that we are the Club that fights Diabetes. Over the years our Club has supported youth to attend camps that show them how to live with Diabetes and to be able to talk and learn from others with this problem. We have also donated thousands of dollars yearly to our Cosmopolitan Foundation that funds research in finding a cure for Diabetes. While a slow process, great strides are being made in making life better for those with Diabetes.
Now as our Club enters a year filled with the turmoil of Covid 19, we find ourselves between a rock and a hard place. Our ability to raise funds for our community projects has been cut off as we are unable to do fund raisers by going into the community that has so greatly supported US for so many years. We can only hope that things will soon return to normal.
I would like to thank our members, both current and past for their involvement in making our Club the organization that it is and will continue to be. If you would like to be a part of our Club, check out our web page cosmoclubpa.org
